It can keep us safe…and stuck.
But here’s something I really want you to understand.
Engaging in self-care is the exact opposite of being selfish.
By learning how to put yourself and your own needs first you’re actually doing everyone else around you a big favour.
For when you are taken care of, I mean like REALLY taken care of – emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually – you show up to the world as the best version of yourself!
You’re more present.
You have more energy.
You feel more fulfilled.
You feel like your life has more purpose.
You’re better able to manage your emotions.
You can handle the never-ending to-do list with a smile.
Your relationships improve.
Your sleep gets better.
You’re happier.
You achieve your dreams.
You feel better about yourself.
So let me ask you…

Food can remind us of our childhood, bringing us back to some amazing memories.
Yet, it can also bring us back to painful times.
Our relationship with food is often intertwined by our upbringing, our current emotional state and our perception of ourselves.
Some use food for comfort; overindulging to make them feel good.
Other’s restrict food as a means to feel they have some sort of control over something in their lives.
Some feel they have no control over food and rather it controls them, like a drug they cannot seem to quit.
Whatever your current relationship to food is, just know that you were not born feeling this way.
As a baby, you instinctively knew when you were full and when you were hungry.
As a child, you didn’t care if you had too much chocolate or cake.
You were born being completely in tune with yourself and your body.
You were born with unlimited self-love where you had freedom and happiness with food.
I have some questions for you…
Do you feel better about yourself when you ate “good” that day?
Does the thought of what you ate during the day keep you up at night?
Are you constantly counting calories or labelling food as “good” or “bad”?
Do you feel guilty when you eat “too much”?
Is food something you feel you don’t have control over?
