Are You Scared To Be Alone?

02.05.2014

Spending time on your own, not being distracted by external stimuli is so beneficial.

This stimulus I speak of has to do with numerous things such as other people’s influence, telephones, the Internet, video games, movies, apps on your phone, computer games, or even a fictional book.

Though I am not claiming that these are not important things to have in your life, as forms of pleasure or even relaxation, (because they are!) the issue I believe comes when we always turn to these things as a means to escape, escape ourselves that is.

For it is in stillness & silence that real growth can take place.

For those of you that are familiar with me, you know I always speak about the EGO versus our TRUTH.

Connection to our truths, our spirits, the essences of who we are can emerge through learning how to enjoy being alone and being in stillness.

For it is in stillness and silence that we can begin to hear our internal dialogue (OUR EGOS) and question it.

We can begin to become aware of the thoughts that we think and ask ourselves,

“Are these thoughts serving me or not? If they are serving me, in what way? Where did these thoughts stem from? What deeper beliefs are they related to? How can I begin to shift these deeper thoughts and beliefs to be in alignment with what I want to attract and bring into my life?”

Whether you have been following along with my newsletters and blogs, from the beginning or just started reading them now, you will know (or do know!) that I speak a lot about those who are dealing with ED, in the form of an Eating Disorder. The thoughts that emerge from anyone with an ED is certainly not stemming from a place of self-care and self-love, so in this case I would strongly argue that no they are not serving that individual.

However, as I mention in my book, “Weighing Love” , I feel that everyone has an ED, (Everyone’s Disorder) – which essentially is the EGO.

If you know anything about the EGO, what you know about it is it in founded in FEAR.

Fear of looking bad, fear of missing out, fear of failure, fear of success..

FEAR FEAR FEAR

So I want to ask you,

What are you afraid of?

Are you scared of being alone without all of those forms of escapism?

Why are you scared of being alone?

What is really going on inside, underneath all of those overly exaggerated claims about yourself and your life, or if you are the complete opposite, underneath the insecure comments about yourself, your life and possibly even your body?

The older I get and the longer I stay in this field where I am helping others, I am always brought back to this way of thinking, to this fundamental belief.

Until you begin to recognize the EGO, whether it be insecure or overly confident, you are never ever going to be living from your truth and authentic place of being.

My belief in all of this is it doesn’t mean that once you recognize your EGO you are no longer allowed to participate in activities you used to enjoy or like materialistic things. This is this about becoming an enlightened yogi who spends their entire days sitting in meditation, nor am I saying that if you choose to do that there is something with that way of being!

However, I am talking about learning how to live a life where you are able to step outside of your inner dialogue and feel deeper.

To connect back to your truth, to your inner voice, to your spirit.

To enjoy your alone time and embrace it, as a time to work on the most important relationship that you will have in this lifetime, THE RELATIONSHIP THAT YOU HAVE WITH YOURSELF THAT IS!

So before I go, I invite you step outside of yourself, your distracting life and your distractions around you and listen to your inner dialogue and what you say to yourself daily.

It is through this internal voice, these deeper beliefs that you can begin the REAL process of transformation.

Often people think it comes from working from the outside in, but it’s actually the other way around!

So I invite you to spend some time alone, dive deep and see what you find inside 🙂
