Sisters of the World – Spice Up Your Life!

30.03.2015

IMG_9243Did you know that I was OBSESSED with the Spice Girls when I was younger?

As you can see from my pictures,  I collected their dolls, photos, stickers and literally everything else they had made.

I still have a HUGE  bin in my parent’s basement filled with everything I collected back in the day, which I refuse to give up! (You never know it could be worth something one day!)
I even entered two lip singing contests with my girlfriends.

Besides sharing this information, not to mention, these gorgeous pictures of myself with you, I wanted to bring them (and my childhood obsession up) to talk about the topic of – GIRL POWER.

We have spent a lot of this month focussing on how to become EMPOWERED through building yourself up through daily tips, specific musical choices and getting in touch with the fierce powerful woman that resides inside of you.

One key part of being an EMPOWERED WOMAN that we have yet to touch upon is to learn how to empower others by being truly happy for them.

As March, the month of EMPOWERMENT, comes to an end, I wanted to talk about everything I interpreted the Spice Girls to stand for – supporting your fellow sisters.

Yet, often times when we are not happy with our own lives, feelings of jealously can appear. I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way. Together, we can eliminate any jealous thoughts or feelings you may have. IMG_9240

That’s why for this week’s blog, I wanted to share my top 5 tips to help you increase your GIRL POWER through supporting other females instead of being envious of their success.

(1) Ask Powerful Questions To Yourself & The Person You Are Jealous/Envious Of

You are jealous of these particular people because they have something you either want or don’t have. Look at these feelings as an opportunity for you to dive within yourself. Ask yourself why you want what they have and how you think your life will be changed as a result of getting that. If it is a genuine desire, let’s say like being somewhere in your career where you are not at yet, use this as an opportunity to see them as mentors not competitors. Reach out to these particular individuals and ask for advice and/or tips which enabled them  to get to the place you one day would like to be as well.

(2) Compliment Someone You Know (or don’t know!) At Least Once A Day Compliment

By practicing complimenting others about positive things occurring in their lives, it will help you get into the automatic habit of acknowledging other’s success. Even a simple complimenting of someone’s coat or hair style – if it is coming from a genuine place, of course – is a great way to start this habit and in turn help others feel great about themselves!

(3) Flourish In Other’s Success & Accomplishments Rather Then Get Fixated On What You Don’t Have

Finding authentic happiness in other’s success and good times is also a key step in learning how to truly empower others. It is so easy to get caught up in your own stuff when others are doing well, but remember whatever you are getting fixated on isn’t about you – it’s about them!

(4) Get Behind Them And Support Them In Their Goals

Just like with numbers 2 and 3 above, getting behind their goals and dreams is also key step. When others are working towards something that really lights them up, or they have achieved their goal, ask yourself how you can be involved. Think of how much of an empowering force you will be for them if you are their cheerleader and part of their team, versus viewing them and their success as if they are your competitors. They will not only feel more empowered but you yourself will feel better, as you are shifting into a more positive energy and frame of mind.

(5) Stay Happy & Positive

Above all else, stay happy and positive in YOUR OWN LIFE. The happier you are with your own life , the more natural and easier it will be to not have anyone else’s success or achievements negatively affect you.

Lastly, I want to leave you with a very powerful quote that will help empower you to empower others.

Jealousy is simply and clearly the fear that you do not have value. Jealousy scans for evidence to prove the point – that others will be preferred and rewarded more than you. There is only one alternative – self-value. If you cannot love yourself, you will not believe that you are loved. You will always think it’s a mistake or luck. Take your eyes off others and turn the scanner within. Find the seeds of your jealousy, clear the old voices and experiences. Put all the energy into building your personal and emotional security. Then you will be the one others envy, and you can remember the pain and reach out to them.”~ Jennifer James
