There Is Not Enough Time To Read This

25.10.2013

So this week has been a VERY busy week for me. I am not sure how many of you know but I wrote my first book, which will be coming out in a few weeks. Getting everything set up for its release, plus working my job and doing all the other things that life consists of has been making me feel like there isn’t enough time.

I wanted to address this in today’s blog, as I think the whole concept of not having enough time, is especially fitting for those of you who are living with an ED (Eating Disorder). I wanted to clarify what ED stands for, because of friend of mine mentioned that she was reading my weekly blog and was so curious as to who this jerk name ED was that I kept referring to! ED stands for Eating Disorder – just to be clear!

Anyways, going into the concept of not having enough time to do what we want or feel that we “need” to do – I want to ask you the following questions…

  • How does this way of feeling affect your ED?
  • How does it affect your relationship with food?
  • How does it affect your relationship with your body? Yourself? Your life?

Have you ever thought of what feeling stressed, feeling overwhelmed and feeling anxious does to you? If not, then I invite you to think of it now.

I know for myself when I used to feel those feelings I first was unable to just sit with them. Those feelings made me feel uncomfortable and as a result I would turn to food as a means to cover up those feelings.

  • For some of you this may be very fitting.
  • For others you may feel the exact opposite.

Maybe when you experience these feelings you actually restrict your food.

Have you ever asked yourself why?

This is what I believe is important – if you don’t know why you are doing something, how are you supposed to change it?

Without AWARENESS of what it is that you are thinking at those moments when you are choosing to eat too much, eat, restrict a little or restrict a lot – it is almost impossible to change your behavior.

With that being said how can you change your relationship with food if you don’t know what is causing your current relationship with food to stem from? Make sense!

So this week I am going to suggest that you pull out a journal and start to write.
Answer all of the questions that I have posed for you in this entry.
Start to be open to uncovering why things are happening.
YOU HAVE TIME – TELL YOUR MIND TO TAKE A CHILL PILL.
This doesn’t need to take hours, even dedicating 10 minutes a day is a great start!

Now let me be clear, you are not necessarily supposed to know the why all on your own. That is why therapists, coaches, and workers like myself exist! To help you figure it out.

I want to tell you something you may not know.
Deep down you know the why.
Yet, when ED is in your life and/or you have a dysfunctional relationship with food, your body and yourself, there is a HUGE DISCONNECTION from you knowing the why.

My job would be helping you connect once again and figure it out.
Once we know why we can begin to TAKE ACTION and create the life of your dreams, which allows you to truly be in love with yourself, your body and the food that you eat!!
