6 Reasons to Be Proud of Yourself

15.06.2015

Why is it that many of us spend a lot of time faulting ourselves for what we think are our imperfections? Why waste our time thinking this way in the first place?

Instead of reflecting upon this negativity, we should be doing the exact opposite. We should be focusing on the reasons to be proud of who we are and what we’ve accomplished in our lives thus far. With this in mind, when you feel the urge to think negatively, take a moment to remember all of the reasons why you are a great person who is worthy of self-love, self-respect and self-pride.

Criticizing yourself will not make life any easier or solve any problems. Rather, it will only lead to more negativity and unhappiness. Guiding yourself to a path of pride will allow you to live a more fulfilling life, as you’ll be able to truly embrace your authentic self.

So here are a few reasons to be proud of yourself right now – as you are today. Remember these things the next time you’re feeling down, or for when you wish to inspire yourself (which should be every day).

1. You’ve Overcome
Life can throw us curveballs (and some, really tough curveballs). You should be proud of how these curveballs molded you to the person you are today. After all, you’ve overcome it.

2. You’ve Grown Wiser
You should be proud of all the things you’ve learned in your lifetime and how you’ve grown into the person you are today.

3. You’ve Succeeded
You’ve done some great things in your life and you’ve had some big achievements that you should really proud of.

4. You’ve Stood Out
You have a unique set of skills and talents, and there are some things that you do better than just about anyone.

5. You’ve Made An Impact
Whether you realize it or not, you’ve inspired others.

6. You’re Still Growing
You still have accomplishments ahead of you to look forward to. Be proud.

I cannot stress the importance of being proud of who you are. I ask you never to forget to be proud of yourself because you deserve to be treated with respect by not only everyone around you, but by yourself especially.

I also invite you to check out my book ‘Weighing Love,’ which was written with the intention to help anyone who is dealing with eating disorders/disordered eating, self-esteem issues, body image issues, and negative thoughts, or for anyone who is trying to reach touch with their authentic self.
