There Is No ONE WAY To Be Beautiful

22.06.2015

Last month, an article was released that features 29-year-old plus size model, Tess Holliday, which showcased her inspiring self-pride. Her body confidence has made Tess an inspiration to thousands of social media followers – she has 662,000 followers on Instagram and a further 850,000 on Facebook.

Tess Holliday is creating her own path in the modeling industry and won’t let anyone stop her. At 5ft 4inches tall and 250lbs, sporting colourful body tattoos and piercings, she certainly doesn’t conform to industry standards. Her self-pride is extremely inspiring, which is why I wanted to share this article with you in the first place.

‘There is no one way to be a woman, or to be beautiful. We all deserve a place,’ said Holliday. Her words here are as powerful as they are true. She’s not afraid to challenge society’s perception of ‘beauty,’ which is what I preach on a daily basis and is something that I teach my clients to as well.

Women who appreciate their appearance—regardless of how much they weigh—are sick roughly 30 percent less often than those who wish they were thinner, the American Journal of Public Health reports. A happy mind most-definitely contributes to a happy body!

I’m so moved by this article and hope to see more self-pride and self-love stories like this in the future. Too often do we fault ourselves for what we think are our flaws. Instead of conforming to unrealistic societal mandates, we must start to praise our bodies for how they were originally created. We have one body – it’s the vessel through which we live all of life’s journeys. We should be nice to it, respect it and love it.
